Oakview Christian Church is a non-denominational group of believers whose purpose is to be a worshipping, serving body of Christ in this community. We are associated with a worldwide fellowship of churches called Christian Churches and the Churches of Christ.

We call ourselves Christian because we acknowledge that we belong to Christ (Acts 11:26). Christ is the head of the church and as His body it belongs to Him (Colossians 1:18; Matthew 16:18; Romans 16:16).

One becomes a member of this church upon the same conditions all believers have become a part of the Lord's church. Through faith in Christ (Matthew 16:16), repentance toward Christ (Acts 2:38) confession of Christ (Matthew 10:32-33) and; baptism by immersion into Christ (Galatians 3:27) is one added to the church (Acts2:47).

Seeking to restore in practice and spirit the New Testament church that is revealed in God's Word, we do not give allegiance to man-made creeds and doctrines but accept the Bible alone as our rule of faith and practice. This is illustrated by certain related slogans that have come down through the years:

• "Where the Scriptures speak, we speak and where the Scriptures are silent, we are silent."
•"In essentials, unity; in opinions, liberty."
•"No book but the Bible; no creed but the Christ; no name but the divine name."

We humbly acknowledge that we are not the only Christians, but we do strive to be Christians only!
